Pedestrian hit by 3 vehicles is critical, one driver sought

KILLEEN, TX - Killeen police report a man hit by three vehicles Saturday remained in critical condition on Monday as officers looked for the driver of one of the cars that failed to stop.

The accident happened Saturday night at 11:22  p.m. at I-14 and the Trimmier exit ramp.

Police say the driver of a Ford F350 pickup was going west in the middle lane of the freeway when the driver noticed a pedestrian trying to cross the highway going north across the traffic lanes.

The driver took evasive action, but still struck the man with the left side of the truck.

A white Chevy Sonic and a third unknown vehicle were also westbound in the outside and exit lanes, with the pedestrian first being hit by the Sonic, then by the third vehicle.

The third, unknown vehicle did not stop.

The victim has been identified only as a 44-year-old man.

He was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple where he was listed as critical but stable as of Monday afternoon.
