Hearse and body stolen in Bryan, body found abandoned


Bryan police are investigating a very bizarre theft that occurred early Friday morning that resulted in a body being left unattended.

About 5:30 a.m. officers responded to the McDonalds on Highway 21 in Bryan to take a stolen vehicle report.

A funeral home employee reported they had temporarily left the vehicle unattended at a business on Highway 21 when an unknown person jumped into the vehicle and drove away.

The hearse did have a deceased person inside that was being transported by the funeral home.

About 7:00 a.m. a passerby spotted a gurney with the body left in the 6000 block of Dick Elliott Road.

The body was recovered and returned to the funeral home.

The vehicle which is a brown Suburban, was found at 11:52 a.m. near the intersection of Macey Road and FM 974.

Deputies with the Brazos County Sheriff's Office made a traffic stop on the vehicle.

As the investigation unfolded, two people were arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Arrested were 27-year-old Adam Crow of Brazos County and 28-year-old Tanya Albrecht of Bryan.

Police say the name of the deceased person who had been in the vehicle will not be released


Bryan police reported that the Sheriff's Office deputies had a "significant impact on the resolution of this case and their assistance is greatly appreciated.
